Coming soon: two new David Austin varieties!

Share

Yes, you read that right. Not just one, but two new David Austin varieties will be introduced! You can imagine how we’ve been jumping up and down since we heard the news and how excited we are to share it will all of you!

Creating a new rose is a combination of art and science and improves with experience. David Austin has dedicated his life to creating beautiful scented roses. Born in 1926 he still works virtually full time today.

The art is in the decision-making process of choosing which varieties to cross. We do this by looking at each variety’s history and parentage for qualities that can be useful again, or qualities that may have been lost but could reappear using a different partner.

With so much experience and so many varieties already created, the possibilities are actually expanding — promising many more wonderful roses in the David Austin Wedding Rose Collection to come.

David Austin Wedding Rose PurityYou have probably already heard or read the news about the new David Austin variety called Purity. They already announced that a few months ago. Purity is an amazing creamy-white wedding rose with delicate blush undertones in its center.

The blooms first open to a cup and then to a fully opening rosette. It has a fresh, medium-strong, pure-rose fragrance. Purity is a medium-size rose with approximately 90 petals per bloom.

With a long, 10-day vase life, David Austin Wedding Rose Purity is perfect for weddings and events, special celebrations and everyday floral design.

But now…the even bigger news: there will be a second David Austin variety introduced in the market!

We actually already have the new David Austin variety called Capability proudly presenting itself in our office and let us tell you, this rose is beau-ti-ful!

David Austin Wedding Rose CapabilityThe David Austin Rose Capability is a strong, deeply-colored rose in rich raspberry tones. It has a medium rose scent with intriguing spicy overtones. Capability has bright blooms and a vase life of 7-9 days, thus making this luxury cut rose perfect for weddings, event decor, special celebrations and everyday floral arrangements.

This rose is named after Lancelot Brown, more commonly known with the byname Capability Brown, and was an English landscape architect. He is remembered as ”the last of the great English 18th century artists to be accorded his due”, and ”England’s greatest gardener”. He designed over 170 parks, many of which still endure. He was nicknamed ”Capability” because he would tell his clients that their property had ”capability” for improvement.

(Bright pink roses are very difficult to photograph, so the colors might be not fully colorfast)

The availability of these two new David Austin varieties is very limited. If you want to get your hands on these gorgeous roses, better email us at [email protected] soon! Purity will be officially released to the market in Spring 2017. Sign up for our newsletter so you’ll be first to know when they are released to the market and ready to be ordered.
