Where does Karl Lagerfeld buys his flowers?
A profusion of flowers
A boutique decor, filled with natural lights where the flowers and bouquets endlessly reflect in huge mirrors, thus creating a true oasis of peace and refinement in one of the most romantic cities in the world. Welcome to Lachaume Fleurs, Paris.
Lachaume Fleurs situated on prestigious Rue du Faubourg St-Honoré was once frequented by writer Marcel Proust, who bought a cattleya orchid daily for his buttonhole. Arguably one of the city’s most famous and expensive boutiques (just ask customer Karl Lagerfeld), Lachaume Fleurs has been seducing visitors since 1845. It is more like a secret garden then a shop – floral arrangements decorate the interior and all bouquets are sold in glass vases. You will leave with a little piece of Parisian decadence.
In 1840 Jules Lachaume opened his famous flower shop in Paris. It still operates today as one of Paris’s most exclusive florists. Jules Lachaume is widely believed to be the first florist in the modern sense of the word, and he published the first modern book on flower arranging, Les Fleurs Naturelles, in 1847.
All the knowledge and expertise was lovingly passed on from generation to generation. Nowadays, Stephanie and Caroline pour their hearts out in the beautiful creations from fragrant nature. They learned everything from their Venetian grandmother Giuseppina Callegari.
The florist shop, as we understand it today – that place where city dwellers seek not just violets for the opera and roses for their sweethearts, but also a moment of beauty and serenity, a place where time stands deliciously, fragrantly still while the rest of the city rushes by – is well-known as a true floral innovation.
